Our approach
Learning through curiosity and play
Our early-learning approach takes inspiration from Reggio Emilia, with an emphasis on curiosity, exploration and discovery, and a hands-on STEAM focus: science, art, music and outdoor exploration.
How we teach
What learning looks like at Sunshine
Children lead the way
Inspired by Reggio Emilia, we follow children’s questions and interests. Teachers notice what excites each child and build on it with materials, conversations and activities.
Hands-on STEAM
Science, technology, engineering, art and math come to life through sensory play, building, painting, music and time outdoors, not worksheets alone.
A steady daily rhythm
Every day includes circle time, art and crafts from the weekly lesson plan, music and movement, story time and outdoor play, morning and afternoon. Older preschoolers also work in learning centers and small groups.
Growing at every age
Babies explore through their senses and cuddles; toddlers build words, independence and potty skills, with milestone tracking; preschoolers grow their focus, friendships and early literacy and math through play.
Families as partners
You see your child’s learning as it happens: our parent app shares photos, videos and daily updates, so you can talk about the day at home.
Small groups
Small groups give teachers time to get to know each child and respond to their individual needs.
